AUDITIONS

EQUITY AND NON-EQUITY ACTORS

Auditions are held at least twice a year in New York City. We post our audition calls in Back Stage and on PLAYBILL Online. We hold one week of Actor's Equity and non-Equity auditions in September and December each season. Depending upon what role you are eligible for, you may be asked to sing. Please be prepared with two songs that utilize both your belt and legit voices. In addition, you will be given sides to look over briefly before your reading audition. You may be asked to return at the end of the week for a callback audition. See "Audition Tips" for more information on auditioning. We are only able to cast from auditions, so please do not mails us your headshots and resumes. No phone calls please.

Be prepared to travel because ArtsPower is a touring theatre. Casts consist of four actors and one stage manager, and all travel in a large maxi-van with the set, sound system and costumes. ArtsPower tours are a combination of "local" and "out-of-town" bookings.

EQUITY AND NON-EQUITY STAGE MANAGERS

ArtsPower, an Equity touring Theatre for Young Audiences company, is seeking resumes from stage managers. ArtsPower rehearses in Manhattan. All tours travel locally and nationally. Stage Managers are hired under an Equity Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) weekly contract. If not already a member, person hired must take an Equity card. Stage Managers must have a valid driver’s license, ability to drive Dodge Maxivan, capability to get to an early morning call point in midtown Manhattan (West 57th Street), organizational skills, and good public relations skills. Laptop computer and touring experience a plus. Each tour consists of one stage manager and four actors. Fall tours generally begin rehearsal in September and tour through December. Winter/Spring tours generally begin rehearsal in January and tour through the end of May or the beginning of June. ArtsPower interviews qualified candidates in Manhattan at the end of August and the beginning of September for the Fall tours and at the end of November and the beginning of December for the Winter/Spring tours. Send a cover letter, resume, and references to: ArtsPower, Webster Commons, 271 Grove Avenue, Building A, Verona, NJ 07044. ATTN: Stage Manager Interviews, fax them to 973.239.0165, or email them to gblackman@artspower.org. No phone calls please.

AUDITION TIPS

What if I don't get cast the first time?

We encourage you to audition for us again in the future. Your persistence is appreciated!

What if I don't have my Equity card yet?

That's okay! There are designated times for non-Equity calls each time we hold auditions in New York City. If cast, you will need to sign a Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) contract and pay a membership fee to the Actor's Equity Association.

Can I be cast if I do not want my Equity card and membership?

Unfortunately, no. ArtsPower works under an agreement with Actor's Equity Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) contract. Only Equity members can perform under this contract.

I would love to be cast, but I don't sing.

No problem. ArtsPower's roster includes non-singing roles in our non-musicals.
